Usage

This template creates an external link to the information page for a geographical name in Quebec at the Commission de toponymie du Québec website (at toponymie.gouv.qc.ca). The website catalogs information about each geographic name in Quebec (for municipalities, former municipalities, rivers, lakes, street names, districts and neighbourhoods, etc.), including an explanation of the origin of the name, where available.

• first unnamed parameter: This is the numerical code for the corresponding webpage:

To look it up:

1. Go to the Commission de toponymie website, and type the geographical name in the Recherche de noms de lieux field, then click on the "Soumettre" button. If successful, the resulting page will show a listing, which may include a long list of street names and other items. Find the right item in the listing and click on it.

Result: Reference number 88 of the Commission de toponymie du Québec (in French)

Example: {{toponymie|372811}} for Yamaska, Quebec
