This template is intended for use on the Talk page of users who have edited articles related to medical topics and either neglected to add a reference where needed, or have added references which are not MEDRS-compliant. It may be used for users who have made good faith efforts to include reliable citations in the article, but which do not meet the standards of citations defined by Wikipedia:Reliable medical sources.

Parameters

change

There are two positional and four named parameters. All parameters are optional.

  • |1= – name of first article with reference(s) added by the user which are not MEDRS-compliant
  • |2= – name of another article with non-compliant referencing
  • |good1= – an article with references added by the user which are MEDRS-compliant
  • |good2= – a second article with compliant referencing
  • |sourced= – yes or no; changes the text based on whether user added a source or not (default: no)
  • |comment= – any text string; will be added just before the auto-signature.

Effects of parameters

In the sentence beginning, "I noticed that you recently made additions to one or more articles...", adding |sourced=yes will modify the end of that sentence to:

  • ...where you added a citation to a reliable source. Thank you for respecting Wikipedia's policy on WP:Verifiability and for using citations!

Adding one or both positional parameters, modifies that sentence to:

  • ... made additions to one or more articles such as uncompliant article1... , if |1= is included
  • ... made additions to several articles such as uncompliant article1 or uncompliant article2..., if |1= and |2= are included

Using one or both of the |good*= parameters also adds an additional sentence, after "...may have been removed," namely:

  • On the other hand, the sourcing for good article1 [and good article2] looks fine, keep up the good work!

Using the |comment= parameter adds whatever text you supply to the end of the message. It is immediately followed by your signature (added automatically by the template).

Examples

change
{{subst:Uw-medrs}}
  • Simple invocation, no params; gives generic message with links to WP:MEDRS without mentioning any articles.
{{subst:Uw-medrs|sourced=yes}}
  • Using named param |sourced= expands the generic message to acknowledge the user's attempt to add a citation to a reliable source, but without mentioning any specific article they touched.
{{subst:Uw-medrs|Vulcan anesthesiology|Invertebrates on Ganymede}}
  • Using positional params |1= and |2= names and links two articles with problematic references added by the user
{{subst:Uw-medrs|Vulcan anesthesiology|good1=Robot plankton|good2=Jovian exophyla|comment=Happy editing!}}
  • Params |1= and |2= indicate the problematic article(s); params |good1= and |good2= name article(s) that they sourced correctly, per MEDRS. Param |comment= is an optional final comment containing any text.
