The Lovely Bones is a 2009 supernatural thriller drama movie. It is directed by Peter Jackson. The movie stars Saoirse Ronan, Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, Rose McIver and Michael Imperioli. The screenplay of the movie was written by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Jackson. The Lovely Bones is based on Alice Sebold's award-winning and bestselling 2002 book of the same name.[1]

The movie follows a girl who is murdered and watches over her family from "the in-between." She is torn between getting revenge on her killer and allowing her family to heal.

The Lovely Bones was first released in November 2009, and internationally in January 2010. Tucci was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the movie.
