Titanis

genus of terror bird (Phorusrhacidae)

Titanis was a prehistoric flightless bird. Its name means 'giant'. Titanis was a genus of terror birds (the Phorusrhacidae). They were dominant land carnivores in South America through much of the Cainozoic.
