Transak was started in 2019 by Sami Start and Yeshu Agarwal, who met at a networking event and decided to create easier ways to use Web3. They began in a small apartment in New York and later grew the company worldwide.[2] In 2019, Transak launched a service to help people change cryptocurrency into regular money.[3] The company later partnered with Visa to expand its services to 145 countries. In 2023, Transak raised $20 million in funding.[4]

In 2023, Transak worked with Immutable to make payments easier for Web3 games.[5] In 2024, the company partnered with Uniswap Wallet to let people buy crypto directly using Apple Pay, Google Pay, and credit/debit cards.[6][7] In 2024, it teamed up with Sony’s blockchain project, Soneium, to make Web3 payments simpler for gaming.[8][9] Transak also worked with Sequence in 2024 to let people buy NFTs and digital items with their local money.[10] Later in 2024, Transak joined Zerion Wallet to offer free onboarding to the Zero Network for a limited time.[11] In the same year, Transak got licenses in Canada and parts of the U.S. to operate legally.[12][13] Transak became a payment partner for Lamborghini’s NFT projects.[14][15]
