Typhoon Nina was a Western Pacific tropical cyclone. The storm developed in late July 1975 and lasted until early August.
The typhoon struck Taiwan first. Upon doing so, the winds of Nina were 115 miles an hour. That meant Nina was a Category 3 typhoon. The storm later struck eastern China.
In Taiwan and China put together, Nina caused the deaths of more than 229,000 people. Damage was more than $1 billion.
The storm was a strong Category 4 typhoon when it struck China.
