USS Maine was a United States Navy ship. She sank in Havana Harbor in 1898, which was the reason the United States got involved in the Spanish-American War. USS Maine was reported as a battleship, which was an error because at first, she was commissioned as ACR-1 (Armored Cruiser #1).
