Akiyoshido is one of the biggest Stalactite cave, in Japan. The total of Akiyoshido is 8.9 km. A sightseeing route is about 1 km. The temperature of Akiyoshido is always 17℃. There are creatures living in only Akiyoshido. For example, Akiyoshi Horazumikanimushi(アキヨシホラズミカニムシ) and Akiyoshi Shiroayatobimushi(アキヨシシロアヤトビムシ) are. Moreover there are 15,000 head of bats.

In the old days, Akiyoshido was called "Takiana(瀧穴)" by local people. In 1907's Edward Gauntlett is a British person researched Akiyoshido. Akiyoshido became a natural monument in Japan on March 1922. Showa Emperor named "Akiyoshido" on May 1926.

Akiyoshidai change

Akiyoshidai was born as a coral reef a long time ago. It took Akiyoshidai 350 million years to become karst. Akiyoshidai used to be a forest. But, it was changed to a grassy plain by people. Now, Akiyoshido is a famous sightseeing spot.

Formation change

Akiyoshido was made by limestone being dissolved by little acid included in the water, and became a big cavity. By checking stalactites and stalagmites, we understood that the stalactite cave was made hundreds of thousands of years ago. Stalactite and Stalagmite and calcareous sinter are seen in the cave.

Spots change

There are the famous places such as Blue ceiling(青天井), 100 pieces of plates(百枚皿), Donai Fuji(洞内富士), Chimachida(千町田), Kasazukushi(傘づくし), Gankutsuo(岩窟王), Water fall flag of the jelly fish(くらげの滝登り), Secret passage of the dragon(竜の抜け穴), Samidare palace(五月雨御殿), Koganebashira(黄金柱).
