Pure Land Buddhism is a kind of Buddhism that believes people can go to Heaven (The Pure Land [en]) after they die.[1] In Pure Land Buddhism the Buddha Amitabha [en] lets people reincarnate in the Pure Land if they recite his name. Reciting his name is called Nembutsu.[2] The purpose of going to the Pure Land is not to enjoy it for its own sake, but rather to gain enlightenment there.[1]
