Shirakawa family also known as the Shirakawa Hakuo family was a Japanese family associated with Shinto. Often compared to the Yoshida family . They founded Shirakawa Shinto[1].
They are a branch of the Minamoto clan
They claimed succession to Department of Divinities and were involved with Imperial Court Rituals[1]. They took this role from the Fujiwara clan and dominated the department of divinities until the Yoshida family became their rival.[2]
