Sledge hockey is a type of ice hockey. It is played by people with physical disabilities.
History change
Sledge hockey was invented in Sweden in the 1960s.[1] It appeared at the Winter Paralympics for the first time in 1994.[1]
Rules change
Teams have six players each. One player is a goaltender.[1] The rules are similar to ice hockey. The playing area has three zones. The game has three periods. Each period is 15 minutes long. There is a 15 minute break between periods.[1]
Equipment change
Sledge hockey players use a special sled. It has three skates on its bottom. Two are in the back and one is in the front.[1]
Eligibility change
People with physical disabilities can play sledge hockey.[1]
