There are some children on Wikipedia. IF a user wants to be known for their contributions and work, they might want to tell the world about their prodigiousness. The younger you are, after all, the more miraculous it is to receive barnstars and books! Provided the children follow the children's privacy policy, they are Wikipedians also. However, most children would choose to edit as an IP if at all.
