Hi! Welcome to Wikipedia. I can't help but notice that all of your edits are labeled minor, even your recent one to en:Feminism in which you rewrote the lead paragraph. Reverting Vandalism change

Hi! Thanks for reverting a series of vandalism edits to en:Automated external defibrillator. Once you revert such an edit, please take a minute to inform the person you reverted. There are a series of templates available to help editors provide consistent warning messages appropriate to the level of infraction you've just fixed. By inserting such templates, you also make administrators who may be considering blocking the user for disruption aware that others have given the misbehaving user notice that their actions violate Wikipedia community standards. Please feel free to drop me a note with any questions you might have regarding this, and once again--thanks for doing your part to keep Wikipedia Vandal Free! Optimus Prime change

Hi VP, per your requested I've userfied the deleted article here. It seems that the sources have all gone dead, though I did a quick search and it looks like more are out there: for instance, here is a Sports Illustrated article which mentions him (albeit briefly). While working on the article, be sure to mind the biographies of living persons policy. Even in user space, this policy is of tantamount importance. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Nomi Sunrider-TofJ3 cover.jpg) change

Thanks for uploading Image:Nomi Sunrider-TofJ3 cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? --EEMIV (talk) 20:55, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

More about images and other edits change

Please review the criteria for including non-free (i.e. copyrighted) content. Over-imaging (e.g. four pictures of the same fictional character) does not meet the fair-use rules.

Additionally, the content of en:Nomi Sunrider is almost entirely plot summary. Such material may not last long as a separate article; just a heads up that I or another editor may roll it into one of the various lists of generally non-notable in-universe topics. --EEMIV (talk) 20:58, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Fair use reduce" change

Adding {{fair use reduce}} to the page for a too-large image will draw the attention of an editor who can replace the image with a low-resolution version suitable for use here. --EEMIV (talk) 21:00, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cerdiocerebral resuscitation change

Hi there,

Regarding your splitting of CCR away from the main CPR page, i have to disagree with the general idea. Compression only CPR has various benefits, but is simply a difference of protocol - remember that CPR originally had neither breaths (insufflations) or chest compressions - see the en:History of CPR page for more information.

Compression only is starting to be used more widely, including in some AHA guidance (but not ILCOR) and in the UK some ambulance services now use a compression focused method of 200 compressions to 2 breaths, with excellent results. I think it likely that the next ILCOR change will involve lay persons being instructed at 100:2 ratio.

With the trend being towards raising the number of compressions, CCR ceases to be any different at all, for all practical purposes. It is also worth bearing in mind that the lungs (pulmonary system) are still involved in compression only CPR, as the mechanical action of compressing the chest causes air to be expelled and inspired, so the pulmonary system is also involved - if you ever have to do CPR, you'll know this is true!

On that basis, i've reverted your edits, and redirected CCR to the appropriate section of the CPR page. Unless you've got some other reasons why CCR is anything other than a different protocol for CPR, then I think we should concentrate on expanding that section of the article.

Hope that's OK, let me know if you've got any questions

Regards, OwainDavies (about)(talk) edited at 16:12, 2 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Recommend reading the EMS Magazine article.
CCR is not a difference of protocol; it is NOT for professional responders.
CCR is to CPR what an AED is to a non-auto Defib.
CCR=layresponder.
CPR=proresponder.
As I noted, the page WILL grow;
I will restore it back when I sit to add more and expand.
Appreciate the note.
Vengeance is mine, saith the Prime 16:37, 2 Aug 2008 (UTC)
I think the magazine might miss the point then - professionals do use a CCR method - we use 200 compressions to 2 breaths - well above current ILCOR protocols. The CCR page did exist before and was merged in to CPR - i can't see what has changed? We mention both professional and lay methods in the article at the moment, so i can't see any reason to have a separate article. I would ask you to discuss on article talk before re-adding (see if anyone else replies) OwainDavies (about)(talk) edited at 16:57, 2 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't like to make comments in public that suggest I'm not very clever, but I'm afraid (well, not really - embarassed I guess) I have to admit that I'm very confused by your response and don't understand significant chunks of it.

I've been removing a lot.

(I think I understand this one.) Y'know, despite their (in-your-opinion) "awful"ness, redlinks do serve a purpose. Why are you so dead-set-keen on removing them?

Glad to see you created the redirect and re-added it.

I'm afraid (well, again, not really afraid - just confused) I have no idea what you mean. Which redirect did I create that makes you glad? And which "it" did I "re-add", and to what did I "re-add" it. And why does this make you glad? Don't get me wrong - I'm pleased I've done something that makes you glad! But I would like to have some idea of what it was that I did to achieve this fortuitous outcome ...

I LIKE having more.

(Confused again.) What is it that you like having more of?

Thank you; and you too. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 11:50, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

P.S. Even though it is not as different as some may wish, I prefer your "new" black-letters-on-grey signature to the grey-letters-on-black. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 11:50, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not at all... I'm probably not too clear sometimes.
Disambig pages generally shouldn't have redlinks because that doesn't actually disambiguate anything.

I have been working through disambiguation pages, removing inline links (per Manual of Style), and removing redlinks.
In regular pages, absolutely redlinks are important and I've added some.
Let me restate: I saw the link re-added and no longer red. That's great!
I prefer having more links. More links = more information.

August 2008 change

Please remember to mark your edits as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Thank you. --EEMIV (talk) 07:45, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Was this on a usertalk page this time that you refer?
Knowing the specific instance will help me understand and fix.
I'll work on it. ;-) Thanks.
Second note:
When typing something rather trivial on a usertalk page (a "Thank you" or a "I'll think about it" (with a little more elaboration), would that be generally minor-able? I don't consider myself very "major" at all.
In my message to Lucas on his Talk page, I just spaced it.

question change

Here's a question, and I mean this sincerely:
Is it better to (accidentally) mark a minor edit as non-minor or a non-minor edit as minor?
Because I'll continue to mess up now and then; to which side should I commit to err?
Vengeance is mine, saith the Prime   15:40, 4 Aug 2008 (UTC)
  • I know you weren't asking me, but I would say if you have any doubt, don't mark it as minor. Another way to look at it is to ask yourself the question "Have I changed the meaning of this page or just fixed up the writing?" If all you have done is copy editing, a big edit can be minor, but if you have changed the meaning, even a single word can be a major change. Beeblbrox (talk) 17:17, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Perhaps I ought just uncheck the "minor by default" setting?
  • I just don't want to go through this again with "you need to mark edits as minor"!
  • Kinda funny...I'm just trying to figure it all out and keep everyone happy.
  • Thank you for the note and opinion on this and the signature. Vengeance is mine, saith the Prime   17:21, 4 Aug 2008 (UTC)

Let's try this again and I'll be a little nicer this time change

Ok, I thought instead of sidetracking the AfD we should discuss the situation one-on-one. The problem as I see it is that AfD debates usually run for five days in order to gather the maximum number of participants and to give everyone the time to make a decision and to evaluate improvements that might have been made to the article. Unless there is a unanimous consensus, (including the nominator) it is not considered appropriate to turn the page into a redirect while the debate is still open. You will note that another editor, not myself, undid your redirect, so this isn't just what I think. The guide to deletion has more information on this. I realize I could have been a little nicer about everything and I apologize if I was rude to you. That having been said, I see from above messages that I am not the only one who has noticed your signature. To put my criticism in a more constructive manner than my previous statement, the problem is that you have a long signature encased in a large black bar. It's like every time you sign a comment, you have your own section break that comes with it. It's not against any rules or anything like that, it just that many editors here find that sort of thing disruptive to the flow of conversation, that's all. Thanks for your time. Beeblbrox (talk) 17:11, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I understand, and the redirect undo is fine.
It seemed logical, and inevitable.
No hard feelings anywhere.
I've modified the signature, gray now.
And I put in line breaks in my comments manually.
The signature doesn't automatically (It did once, but that was a coding error!)

Relax, I don't mind informal chat on my talk pages. I don't really know what to expect, because that'll just set you up for disappointment (I hope Bay does depict Grimlock in the third one though). I hope Soundwave, the Fallen and Jetfire are very cool and aren't wastes of time like Blackout and Bonecrusher. Alientraveller (talk) 21:23, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, the (Marvel/Dreamwave/IDW) comics characterization and origins of the Dinobots works a lot better in a relatively-serious film than their overly amusing depictions in the original cartoon and Animated.
I didn't like Blackout because he was an lug who stole the perfect Soundwave redesign.
Maybe Prime will turn the splinter in the Matrix, because if the Fallen's arrival sets up who I think it is, then they'll need it to light their darkest hour. Alientraveller (talk) 21:45, 10 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I love when humanity is discovering the Transformers in any continuity. That's why there's so many of them you know, the franchise starts to lose wonder as it gets too gimmicky and even characters like Devastator and Omega Supreme lose their edge. Thank goodness for Primus then: it's always best to save these backstories, and yeah, an animated adaptation of TWW or IDW's stuff like they've done The Ultimates would be cool. It's a little tongue-in-cheek.
You must admit, though it is "forbidden", it happens. A lot.
I got the idea from a different editor/article, actually.
The main (serious) point is to identify those who have a lot invested in the article and may be experts on the topic.
No more, no less.
I intentionally put it on the SF page so it couldn't be misconstrued as a personal attack on a different page.
See also (my work on the page).
I think that qualifies me as being heavily invested in the page. That said, I personally welcome additional contributors!

Deletion on en:Template:Ownership change

Heh, you caught me cleaning up after raising it as an MfD rather than a TfD. Thanks for popping by. Essentially, the problem is that it's in the main template space and it's appearing on articles. It's both of these together that's a problem. Humour has its place, but it's normally reserved for wikiproject areas, userpages and other 'behind the scenes' areas that aren't likely to be confusing to new users or editors. Hope that clarifies things for you. Many thanks, Gazimoff 20:43, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of en:Troop Leading Procedures change

A tag has been placed on en:Troop Leading Procedures requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A Google search found a verifiable source. Has article on Spanish Wikipedia. Also, you had no way of knowing this, but en:User:Blofeld of SPECTRE creates a lot of good articles. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 02:12, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I do know of Blofeld (and I know the James Bond reference), but CSD-A2 clearly states "Foreign language articles that exist on another Wikimedia project." Combined with virtually no content, this is a slam-dunk. I was actually surprised seeing that he created it. The "reference" was Google, which is NOT a en:WP:RS. This has less content and less claim to notability than en:Troop Leading Procedures, which was speedied today (in spite of having only been created last night). I'm missing something in the realm of consistency... or "inherent notability"? Help me out here... Vengeance is mine, saith the Prime  02:17, 14 Aug 2008 (UTC)
I did a stub run a week or so ago of about 100 to translate in the coming weeks. I left a notice at the top of every page indicating that it needed or would be translated from the other wikipedia. Articles like en:José María Albiñana and en:Gerardo Abad Conde were started in the same way, as basic one liners. If you are working with bulk it is often easier to get them started and then write them afterwards. Some people expect them to be written on posting but if you have long term goals for wikipedia like myself I work in a different way. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 10:48, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cheers, change

actually has nothing to do with drinking. It's a non-committal, neutral closing to a letter/or email where "Yours" (too personal) or "Sincerely" (to formal) don't apply. I got it from a columnist from the en:St. Petersburg Times, Howard Troxler, with whom I'd exchanged correspondence during my political days. If an editor is immature enough or uncouth enough or unlettered enough to create BLP violations, then there criticism really does not mean much to me. That they are so unsophisticated as to associate "cheers" with drinking in a conversation where the unspoken message was "I'm ready to wring your neck," merely firms up my already not terrible high opinion.

Anyway, your comment had me LOL, so have This:

I let him know about the AFD. Dlohcierekim 04:10, 14 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well its pretty much fancruft really. Personally I don't consider it encyclopedic at all and don't have a place for it on wikipedia, but for all the Star Wars geeks out there (of which there are many) it is probably a useful reference point for a chronology of a fictional world. Not the sort of content I want to see but if some people find it useful I can't really comment either way to keep or delete. Be careful about notifying another user about an AFD next time. I know it was a good gesture and didn't request support to delete but some users would consider it en:WP:CANVASSING. All the best. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 10:43, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please know what the hell you're talking about before making any more stupid comments like your last one.
Essay = Policy? No. Vengeance is mine, saith the Prime  17:44, 16 Aug 2008 (UTC)
Ψ After looking at your userpage (the one you recently blanked/redirected), I came to note that you're 14 years old and likely not deserving of my vengeful reply. Instead, I should be more constructive by indicating that an ESSAY is exactly that. An essay. It is not a policy. Not by any means. In fact, policies themselves are not binding and essays are nothing more than opinion pieces. Do you blindly subscribe to every article written in the OP/ED section of the local newspaper? Of course not; most of it is crap from a whiney, overpaid, incompetant idiot. I'm not saying the same is true of Wikipedia essays, but that description fits a few.
Ψ While you may seem quick to point out the whole "IDONTLIKEIT" angle, what you are likewise forgetting is the "IDONTLIKEIT" aspect of the same, and your relentless clutching at it.
Ψ You may not like the FIVE PILLARS argument (especially since it undermines your IDONTLIKEIT-so-delete-it desires), but they are, after all, PILLARS.
Ψ Take Care. And BTW: One day you may be an administrator and I could even support that. Give it time. FWIW, I'm typically a deletionist anyway! Vengeance is mine, saith the Prime  17:53, 16 Aug 2008 (UTC)

Hello change

Hi. This isn't the English Wikipedia, so having the contents of your talk page from there inserted here makes things confusing. Please clean this page up. Thanks. —Giggy 06:14, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Then don't read it. VengeancePrime
My reply. (Btw. Please at least put a timestamp on your posts.) —Giggy 13:16, 17 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
