Wikipedia:Editor review/Bluegoblin7

Bluegoblin7 (talk · contribs) I've now been here for around two and a half months. I hope that ion that time I have made a positive impact to the wiki. Areas that I have helped to create include Wikipedia:Did you know, Wikipedia:Simple News and Wikipedia:Wikicup. I also run three bots, two semi-regularly and one is in the testing phase. I have been active in discussions on the wiki as well, and I also participate in vandalism reversion and warnings and have the rollbacker flag. You could also probably call me a Recent Changes Patroller. My work has also involved creating many stub articles for various British Rail TOPS classes, and there are more still to do. These will then be developed into larger articles and I hope to make a lot of them GAs and possibly VGAs. Finally, although it means nothing, my edit count is higher than a lot of users that hae been here double or even triple (and further) the amount of time I have been, showing my dedication to the wiki project. Please review me! Criticism is welcome in a constructive manner. BG7even 15:23, 29 December 2008 (UTC) BG7even 15:23, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reviews

I have been wanting to review you for a while because of how active you have been. Now I get that chance to review you :). I do have quite a lot to say for this review, so please bear with me again for this somewhat long post.

First off, I guess I should tell you about the things you need to work on first. Yes, there are some things that you need to work on, but they aren't that major. While you have been reverting vandalism, I didn't see very many ViP reports from you for the past couple of weeks (then again, I haven't had the chance to review it completely). I would suggest that you increase the number of ViP reports that you do. Secondly, while I do see some vandalism reversions in your user changes, the amount of vandalism reversion that I have seen is less than I would have expected from you. I would have liked to have seen more vandalism reverts from you. The third and final thing that I think that you need to work on is the amount of edits that you have in each section that you edit. While you do have over 2,400 edits here, the percentage of edits that you have in the mainspace is not high enough. If you are wanting to become an administrator sometime in the future, I would like to see more edits in the mainspace than in any other section. While I know that I have quite a few more edits than you, if you were to take a look at how many edits that I have in the mainspace as compared to the other sections that I have edited in, you will see that about 55% of the edits that I have made to this site are in the mainspace. With you, it is only about 25% or so (658 mainspace edits/around 760 userspace edits/around 550 Wikipedia space edits). You would need to get this percentage up to around to preferrably more than 50% before I would be able to support you for administrator. Also, I would like to see more participation in the Requests for Deletion page :). Sorry if this sounds a bit bitey, but I have found that the best way to improve yourself is to get and act on good critisism.

Now, onto the good things about you. There are quite a few good things that I have to say about your edits on here. First off, I must commend you for your amazing work on the Wikipedia:Did you know? sections as well as all of your hard work on the Wikicup and other ideas. That Wikicup is one of the most amazing ideas that I have ever seen on this Wikipedia, and I really do believe that it will help to both increase the number of edits as well as improve the overall quality of those edits. Another good thing about your editing on here is that you have been very vocal in discussions on this site and you have definitely shared your opinions on quite a number of things about this site. You have a very high participation rate in discussions on this site, and that is a good thing. I don't think that even I have been as vocal as you in discussions here on this site. Furthermore, your bot creation work for this site is very good and has been very beneficial to the Simple English Wikipedia. There are not very many people that edit on this site that are also good bot programmers, and bot programmers are definitely needed here on this site, so you have that going for you :). Another good thing is that you have created quite a few useful articles to this site, and that tells me that you are very serious about helping build this Wikipedia into as complete of a Wikipedia as you possibly can make. The number of stubs you have created has indeed told me that you are very dedicated to this site and that you editing here has been very beneficial towards this Wikipedia.

All in all, while you do have some things to work on, you have more good things going for you than bad things. Your editing on this site has been very beneficial towards this site, and I would be happy to nominate you for administrator within the next couple of months if you are able to work out the kinks that I have outlined for you above. Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I am probably most pleased of my work at DYK and Simple News. Both have now developed into good areas of the wiki, with over 30 subscribers to simple news, and talk of new developments, and DYK has now settled into a good flow. I'm also pleased with writing the articles mentioned above. Sorry the answers are short, but I sort of said it all above^^
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I haven't really been in any conflicts since coming to Simple, something i'm proud of and wish to keep that way. The only thing I will raise was my local block and global lock in the reprisal of the Chris19910/ChemistryGeek/Britishman/Washing issue, which I was completely cleared of and went about in a calm manner.
