Service awards are a simple way of thanking an editor for their work on the Simple English Wikipedia. They are based on two things:
How long they have been an editor
The number of edits they have made.
Unlike other awards which are only given by one editor to another, these awards can be given to yourself, though they can also be given by another editor. It is done strictly by counting the time you have been an editor and number of edits. There is no special process for getting these awards. You decide which one you are eligible for, and place it on your user page.
Please remember that time spent on the Simple English Wikipedia and number of edits made, do not show the quality of an editor's work, or how useful they are as a member of the community. Service awards also do not show any level of authority. Senior editors have no more authority than "novice" editors. If you would like to give someone an award based on the quality of their work, please use the Wikipedia:Barnstars.
There are three types of "badge" for most levels, a medal, a book, and a small ribbon. Editors may display the one that they like, or two or even the three, or none.
You see your edit count and date started at my settings. You can see also check this information for your account, or any other user here. The edit count may be lower as it does not include deleted edits.
