Wilhelm Fitz

Association footballer (1918-1993)

Wilhelm August Fitz (12 March 1918 in Vienna - 25 September 1993 in Vienna) was an Austrian football player. The Rapid Vienna forward played his only international match for the German national football team on 1 February 1942 in a 1-2 loss against Switzerland. In 1940–41 he won the German football championship with Rapid.

Career

He started his professional career with Rapid Vienna. He played with Rapid Vienna until 1947. He won the Gauliga Ostmark in 1940 and got third place in the German championship. In 1941 Rapid won the German championship. After the end of the Second World War, Fitz won his third championship title with Rapid. The team also won the 1945–46 Austrian Cup in the same season. Fitz's sporting career then led him to Floridsdorfer AC via First Vienna FC (1947–48). He played with Floridsdorfer from 1948 to 1954.
