Wim Hazeu

Dutch poet, writer and journalist (1940–2024)

Wim Hazeu (28 April 1940 – 2 July 2024) was a Dutch writer.

Hazeu was most known as a biographer, and wrote biographies of among others Marten Toonder, Gerrit Achterberg, J. Slauerhoff, M.C. Escher, Simon Vestdijk and Lucebert. Hazeu also published several collections of poetry and essays and published in 2007 the correspondence between Vestdijk and Henriëtte van Eyk [nl] titled We zijn van elkaar.[1][2]

Hazeu was married to writer Thera Coppens [nl]. They had four children.[3]

Hazeu died from ALS in Baarn on 2 July 2024, at the age of 84.[1][2][3]
