Windsor Castle

royal residence at Windsor in the English county of Berkshire

Windsor Castle is the largest inhabited castle in the world. It is in Windsor, Berkshire, England. Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom lives there for part of the year. The first wooden castle was built during anglo-saxon period and was expanded by William the Conqueror; it has been rebuilt of stone many times since the Plantagenets. Henry II builded the circular tower (that is in the coats of arms of Windsor family). It was a military headquarters during the English Civil War. In 1992, there was a fire at the castle.
