Winter (dolphin)

Winter (c. October 2005 – November 11, 2021) was an American bottlenose dolphin. She lived at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Clearwater, Florida. She was widely known for having a prosthetic tail.
Winter was the inspiration for Dolphin Tale, the 2011 movie of the same name, and its sequel. Winter was found in the coastal waters of Florida on December 10, 2005. She was caught in a crab trap, which caused in the loss of her tail.
On November 7, 2021, Winter got sick with a gastrointestinal infection.[1] She died from the infection at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium on November 11, 2021 at aged 16.[2]
