Yitskhok Rudashevski

Lithuanian Jewish diarist

Icchokas "Yitskhok" Rudashevski ((1927-12-10)10 December 1927 – (1943-10-01)1 October 1943) was a Jewish boy who lived in the Wilna Ghetto in Lithuania from 1941 to 1943. He wrote a diary in the ghetto from June 1941 to April 1943. This was during the time the Germans invaded the Soviet Union. He was killed by gunfire in the Ponary massacres while trying to hide during the last time the ghetto was being emptied of people during September and October 1943. His cousin Sore Voloshin, found the diary in 1944 when returned to Wilna after fighting in the war. The diary was first published in 1973 by the Ghetto Fighters' House publisher in Israel.
