2022 Eastern Kentucky floods

On July 27, 2022, very heavy rainfall hit parts of eastern Kentucky and southwest Virginia, including surrounding Appalachia communities. This cause large floodings in Kentucky.[3] The flooding caused 25 deaths with many reportedly missing.[1][4][5][6][7]

On July 29, President Joe Biden said the flooding was a major disaster in Kentucky and ordered federal aid to help state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected.[8]
