Abortion in Azerbaijan is legal upon request within the first twenty-eight weeks of pregnancy.[1]
After twenty-eight weeks, it is legal when:
- The abortion will save the woman's life or preserve her health;
- The father died during the pregnancy;
- Either parent was imprisoned;
- The pregnancy is a result of rape or incest;
- There is a disability in the family; or
- The parents have divorced.[1]
Additionally, a physician may approve any other reason to carry out an abortion.[1]
