Akhilesh Yadav

20th Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, India

Akhilesh Yadav (audio speaker iconpronunciation ; born 1 July 1973), popularly known as Tipu', is an Indian politician, Socialist Figure, and the President of the Samajwadi Party. He was the 20th Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He became the Chief Minister on 15 March 2012 at the age of 38. He thus became the youngest Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.[2]

Yadav was born in the village of Saifai, Etawah District, Uttar Pradesh on 1 July 1973.[3] He was born to Mulayam Singh Yadav and Malti Devi. Mulayam Singh Yadav is a politician, founder of Samajwadi Party and the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Yadav first was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha from the Kannauj constituency in the year 2000. On 10 March 2012, he was appointed as the leader of Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh. He became the youngest Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in 15 March 2012.

Earlier, he was an elected as the Member of Legislative Assembly for Karhal in the 18th Vidhan Sabha, before resigning and has also been the Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from March 2022 to June 2024.
