Alireza Zakani

Mayor of Tehran

Alireza Zakani (Persian: علیرضا زاکانی, born 3 March 1966) is an Iranian conservative politician who is the mayor of Tehran since 2021. He was a member of the Parliament of Iran from 2004 to 2016 and also from 2020 to 2021. He owns Jahan News website and Panjereh Weekly.[2]

He announced ran for presidency in 2013 and 2017 but was disqualified both times. He was a candidate for the 2021 presidential election, but withdrew in favour of Ebrahim Raisi. Zakani was also a candidate in the 2024 presidential election, before also withdrawing.
