Annapurna I Main is an 8,091-metre (26,545-foot) mountain in the Himalayas, in Nepal. It is part of Annapurna Massif. Annapurna I is the 10th highest mountain in the world. In the native language, the word Annapurna means "full of food" or "goddess of the harvests". The first people to climb Annapurna were Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal, in 1950.In October 2014 43 people died in an avalanche. First winter ascent by jerzy kukuczko.
