Arrondissement of Argelès-Gazost
The arrondissement of Argelès-Gazost is an arrondissement of France. It is part of the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region. Its capital is the city of Argelès-Gazost.

History
changeWhen the arrondissements were created in 1800, Argelès-Gazost was one of them in the Hautes-Pyrénées department.
In 1926, the arrondissement of Argelès-Gazost was eliminated but, in 1942, it was made again an arrondissement.[2]
Geography
changeIt is the smallest of the arrondissements of the department with an area of 1,300.2 km2 (502 sq mi),[3] and a population 39,130 inhabitants; its population density is of 29.9 inhabitants/km².[4]
The arrondissement of Argelès-Gazost is bordered to the north by the arrondissement of Tarbes, to the east by the arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre, to the south by Spain and to west by the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department (Nouvelle-Aquitaine region).
