The arrondissement of Thann-Guebwiller was created in 2015 with the arrondissements reform when the arrondissements of Thann and of Guebwiller were combined to form the new arrondissement.[1]

Geography

The arrondissement of Thann-Guebwiller is in the western part of the Haut-Rhin department. It is bordered to the north and northeast by the Colmar-Ribeauvillé arrondissement, to the east by the Mulhouse arrondissement, to the south by the Altkirch arrondissement, to the southwest by the Territoire de Belfort and to the west by the Vosges department.

The arrondissement of Thann-Guebwiller is the second largest of the arrondissements of the department, after the Colmar-Ribeauvillé arrondissement, with an area of 1,027.7 km2 (396.8 sq mi). It has a population of 140,214 inhabitants and a population density of 136.4 inhabitants/km².[2]
