Russian ice hockey player

Artemi Sergeyevich Panarin (born October 30, 1991) is a Russian professional ice hockey left winger. He currently plays for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL).

He has also played for Russia. He won a silver medal with them during the 2015 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships and won a gold medal with them during the 2011 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.[1][2]

Career change

Before playing in the NHL, Panarin played parts of 9 seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). He played for HC Vityaz, Ak Bars Kazan, and SKA Saint Petersburg.

On January 31, 2013, HC Vityaz traded Panarin to SKA Saint Petersburg in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick in the 2013 KHL Junior Draft.[3] On April 29, 2013, Panarin signed a two-year contract extension with SKA.[4] During his last season with the team, Panarin recorded 20 points in 20 postseason games. He helped the team win their first-ever Gagarin Cup.[5]

On April 29, 2015, Panarin signed a two-year entry level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL).[6] On October 7, 2015, Panarin made his NHL debut in a 3–2 loss against the New York Rangers. In the game, he scored his first career NHL goal, on his first shot. He was given the third star of the game.[7]
