History
changeAvilar was started in 1997 by Paul Maresca and Thomas Grobicki. The company is located in Columbia, Maryland, U.S., and is privately owned as Avilar Technologies Inc.[3] In May 2008, Thomas Grobicki, who was the Chief Technology Officer, became the CEO of Avilar.[4]
Avilar Technologies won a $6.6 million contract from the Instituto Latinoamericano de la Comunicación Educativa to provide an e-learning platform. This platform helps monitor and assess the skills of teachers and students and meets other educational needs.[2] Avilar offers various software products, including their main WebMentor line, first introduced in 1998.[1] WebMentor includes tools for developing and managing skills.[5]
In September 2001, Avilar received the Excellence in E-Learning for Customer Satisfaction award from Brandon Hall Group and E-Learning Magazine.[6]
