Baklava (Ottoman Turkish: باقلوا‎) is a traditional sweet made from pastry and often eaten as a dessert. It is known in many countries of the Middle East, Western Asia and the Balkan Peninsula. It is also developed from the cookery of the Ottoman Empire.[1] Baklava is a popular dessert in Turkey.[2][3] Baklava is made of thin pastry layers filled with nuts, pistachios or walnuts. It sweetened with special syrup or honey. Baklava can also be served with ice cream or kaymak (clotted cream). Baklava is also a popular dessert in Greece.[4]
