Bob Beckwith
New York City firefighter (1932–2024)
Robert Beckwith (September 21, 1933 – February 4, 2024) was an American firefighter. He was a member of the New York City Fire Department.[1]

Beckwith became well known to the United States' after he stood next to President George W. Bush as the president gave a speech at the ruins of the World Trade Center after the attacks of September 11, 2001.[2]
Photos of Beckwith and the president appeared on the front page of the New York Daily News and the cover of Time magazine.
Beckwith met several times with President Bush since then, spoken many times in public, and acted as a fundraiser for charities.[3]
Beckwith died from cancer while under hospice care in Rockville Centre, New York, on February 4, 2024, at the age of 91.[1][4]
