Brainiac (character)

Brainiac is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by writer Otto Binder and artist Al Plastino, and debuted in Action Comics #242 (July 10, 1958). Alongside, Lex Luthor, he is seen as a top enemy of Superman and the Justice League.

Fictional character biography

Brainiac is seen as an extraterrestrial cyborg or android. He is responsible for shrinking and stealing Kandor, the capital city of Superman's home planet Krypton.

His name is a portmanteau of the words brain and maniac.[1] In 2009, Brainiac was ranked as IGN's 17th Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time.[2]

Powers and abilities

In his original incarnation, Brainiac has superhuman knowledge due to being an advanced computer system. He also has superhuman strength, speed, and endurance, which increased after building himself a new robotic body.
