Brazilian three-banded armadillo

The Brazilian three-banded armadillo (Tolypeutes tricinctus) is a species of armadillo endemic to Brazil. It is one of two species which can roll into a ball. The other is the Southern three-banded armadillo. It is the most rare species of armadillo: most live in the region called Caatinga, in north-east Brazil. Until the 1990s, the species was thought to be extinct, now it is classified as vulnerable.
