Brenda Abdelall

Brenda Abdelall is an Egyptian-American lawyer and civil rights advocate who serves in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).[1][2] Abdelall was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Egyptian parents. In 2019, She was appointed as Senior Policy Advisor.[3][4][5]

Early life and education

Abdelall completed her undergraduate studies at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. She got her Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Michigan Law School in 2008, where she also served as an editor for the Michigan Journal of International Law.[6][7]

Career

Following law school, Abdelall joined the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) as a civil rights lawyer in 2009. She recently founded Bridge Strategies. In 2011.[8]

From 2011 to 2013, Abdelall served as a Deputy Chief Compliance Officer at NYUAD. Also in 2011, She founded midEATS, Middle Eastern food blog.[9][10] Abdelall also worked as an Instructor at the University of the District of Columbia from 2019 to 2020.

Kamala Harris presidential campaign

In 2024 Abdelall was hired to join the Kamala Harris presidential campaign as Deputy Director of Arab American Outreach. The appointment was supposed to help reach out to Arab Americans.[11][12][13]
