Carolina Reaper
exceptionally hot cultivar of the Capsicum chinense plant
The Carolina Reaper is a hybrid plant made up of a habanero and ghost pepper (which is made up of a habanero and Capsicum frutescens). It was developed by South Carolina breeder Ed Currie.[1] It is known for being one of the spiciest peppers, reaching 2,200,000 SHU on average.[2]
