Charles W. Pickering
American politician and judge
Charles Willis Pickering Sr. (born May 29, 1937) is an American lawyer and politician. He was the Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit for a short time in 2004, after being nominated by President George W. Bush. Pickering was born in Laurel, Mississippi.
He also was a Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi from 1990 to 2004, after being nominated by President George H. W. Bush. Before this, he was Chair of the Mississippi Republican Party from 1976 to 1978. As a lawyer, he helped prosecute Ku Klux Klan members for the murder of Vernon Dahmer.[1]
