Chas Chandler

English musician (1938–1996)

Bryan James Chandler (18 December 1938 – 17 July 1996[1]), known when performing as Chas Chandler, was an English musician, record producer and manager, best known as the original bassist in The Animals, for which he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

Chandler was a member of the British rock band The Animals. He played the electric bass guitar on their 1964 song House of the Rising Sun. Chandler was a towering 6'9".

Chandler discovered and managed Jimi Hendrix from 1966 until Hendrix died in 1970, and then managed the band Slade.

Chandler died on 17 July 1996 from an aneurysm aged 57.[1]
