Cherry Valley massacre

1778 British and Iroquois attack during the American Revolutionary War

The Cherry Valley massacre (November 11, 1778) was an attack by Iroquois and British against Americans in Cherry Valley (New York). It was during the American Revolution. This was one of the worst frontier massacres. Americans had just destroyed the Native towns of Oghwaga and Unadilla. The Iroquois were upset and joined Walter Butler. He led the raid against the Americans. Americans were not prepared for the attack and this led to more deaths.[1][2]
