name bestowed upon one at adulthood in addition to one's given name in East Asian cultures

In East Asia, a courtesy name (Chinese: ; pinyin: ; literally: "character") is a name given to a person when they become an adult. It is also known as a style name.[1] Today, not many Chinese people have courtesy names.
