Dangerous Minds is a 1995 American drama movie starring Michelle Pfeiffer. It is set in a problematic California high school. Its subjects include gangs, teenage pregnancy, poetry and school problems.

Pfeiffer portrays LouAnne Johnson, a former U.S. Marine on whose novel this drama is based. Most of the students in this urban melodrama are African American and Hispanic adolescents.
Dangerous Minds was released August 11, 1995. It had mixed critical reception though was a strong box office hit. In 1996 a television series of the same name premiered, though it was short lived.
The soundtrack and its lead single 'Gangsta's Paradise' by Coolio, enjoyed major success. It received nominations for the Grammy Award for Record of the Year and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Soundtrack Album. Coolio won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance for his vocals.[2]
