SI unit of length equal to ten metres

A decametre (International spelling[1][2]) (American spelling dekameter or decameter[3][4]) is a unit of length equal to ten metres. Its symbol is the dam.

A decametre is not used very often. It is sometimes used to measure heights in meteorology, while a cubic decametre is sometimes used for describing the volumes of rivers and lakes.
