The Roman Catholic Diocese of Zamość-Lubaczów (Latin: Dioecesis Zamosciensis-Lubaczoviensis) is a diocese located in southeastern Poland. It was established on March 25, 1992, and is a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Przemyśl.

History

The Diocese of Zamość-Lubaczów was created on March 25, 1992, by Pope John Paul II. It was formed from parts of the Diocese of Lublin and the Diocese of Przemyśl.[1]

Geography

The diocese covers an area of 8,144 square kilometers in southeastern Poland. It includes the cities of Zamość and Lubaczów, as well as the surrounding regions.[2]

Demographics

As of 2021, the diocese has a population of 386,180 people, of which 98.7% are Catholics. There are 184 parishes within the diocese.[3]

Leadership

The current bishop of the Diocese of Zamość-Lubaczów is Marian Rojek, who was appointed in 2012.[4] The metropolitan archbishop is Adam Szal of the Archdiocese of Przemyśl.[5]
