The company develops projects to reduce carbon emissions and mobilise carbon credits for the global market. It is operational in 17 countries. As of now, EKI has mobilized over 200 million offsets.[4][5][6]

History change

EKI was founded in 2008 as a proprietorship firm called Enking International and later expanded to carbon emissions and their offsetting. It was working with Indian and foreign businesses to register for carbon credits.[7][8][9]

Initially, the company generated revenue through consulting fees. However, owing to low market awareness, declining credit prices, and issues with the carbon trading mechanism, the carbon credit market became less appealing to businesses. EKI eventually became a closely held public limited company.[10]

In November 2020, EKI expressed its intention to have an Initial Public Offering (IPO) and in January 2021, it declared its plan to be listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange to expand its business within and outside India.[11][12][13]

In January 2022, the company achieved a valuation of $1 billion.[14]
