Eric Hill

English children's book author and illustrator

Eric Gordon Hill OBE (7 September 1927 – 6 June 2014) was a British author and illustrator of children's picture books. He was best known for his character Spot the Dog.

Hill was born in Holloway, London. He was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2008 New Year Honours. He was married to Gillian and had two children, Christopher and Jane.

Hill died after a short illness on 6 June 2014 in California, United States, aged 86. He had lived in the U.S. since the 1980s.[1]
