Exeter Ship Canal

canal in the United Kingdom

The Exeter Ship Canal, also known as the Exeter Canal is a canal which goes along the River Exe to Exeter Quay in the city of Exeter. It was built in the 1560s and is one of the oldest canals in England. In the 1820s it was made wider and deeper and the canal basin was opened in 1830 for ships. Now it is only used by pleasure boats.[1]
