Field hockey at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's tournament

The women's field hockey tournament at the 2012 Summer Olympics was the 9th version of the field hockey tournament at the Summer Olympics. It began on 29 July, and ended on 10 August.[1] The Netherlands won the tournament over Argentina.[2]

  3. South Africa originally won the 2011 African Olympic Qualifier, but they then withdrew and won the Olympic Qualification Tournament 1 instead. Because they needed 12 teams in the tournament, they invited the best team that didn't qualify, Argentina.
