It went to number 12 in the United States, number 15 in Canada, number 25 in the Netherlands, number 30 in the United Kingdom, number 31 in New Zealand and number 39 in Australia. The song's success earned Rea a Grammy nomination in 1979. It was covered by Elkie Brooks in 1981 and went to number 6 in Ireland, number 17 in the United Kingdom and number 18 in South Africa.
