Gail Omvedt

American-born Indian sociologist (1941–2021)

Gail Omvedt (2 August 1941 – 25 August 2021) was an American-born Indian scholar, sociologist and human rights activist. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her career began in 1970. She was known for being active in the environmental, farmers' and women's movements, especially with rural women.

She was a senior fellow at the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library and research director of the Krantivir Trust.

Omvedt died on 25 August 2021 at the age of 80.[1]
