Gertrude Chandler Warner
American children's writer (1890–1979)
Gertrude Chandler Warner (16 April 1890 - 29 August 1979) was an American writer. She wrote the popular Boxcar Children books. She was criticized for showing children with little parental supervision. Her critics thought that this would cause child rebellion. She was born in Putnam, Connecticut.
