The Ghana Independence Act 1957 is an act made by the Parliament of the United Kingdom in 1957. The act gave the colony of the Gold Coast a independent government in the Commonwealth of Nations.[1] Queen Elizabeth II gave the Royal Assent on 7 February 1957. On 6 March 1957, the Gold Coast became independent with the name Ghana.[2]
